
<Creed of a Soldier>
He asked for strength that he might achieve;
He was made weak that he might obey.
He asked for health that he might do greater thing;,
He was given infirmity that he might do better things.
He asked for riches that he might be happy;
He was given poverty that he might be wise.
He asked for power that he might have the praise of men;
He was given weakness that he might feel the need for God.
He asked for all things that he might enjoy life;
He was given life that he might enjoy all things.
He has received nothing that he asked for;
All that he hoped for. His prayer is answered;
he is most blessed.
뭔가 해볼 심산으로 ‘힘’을 구했으나 시킨 거나 잘하라고 ‘힘’을 빼셨다.
큰일 해보려고 ‘건강’ 구했으나 ‘아프지만’ 가치 있게 살게 하셨다.
‘부자’의 행복을 구했으나 ‘빈자(貧者)’의 지혜를 주셨다.
사람에게 인정받는 ‘자리’를 원했지만 ‘하나님으로 족하다’고 하셨다.
이것저것 누릴 환경을 구했지만 ‘살려는 드릴께’ 하신다.
어리석게 구했지만 지혜롭게 응답하셨다.
